Breed Highlight: The Pug!

Topics for our blog can be hard to come up with, and we don't want to be repetitive or boring, so we are going to start featuring some different breeds in our blog! Our first featured breed is one that is near and dear to our hearts: the pug!  We've owned approximately 6 pugs or pug mixes in our family and they are definitely our favorite breed of pup, second only to the rescued breed! These small dogs with big personalities have captured the hearts of dog enthusiasts worldwide, and we're about to discover why.

Believed to have originated around 2,000 years ago, the Pug's story begins in the mystical landscapes of China. These small dogs were cherished companions to Chinese emperors and aristocrats. With their distinctive features and delightful personalities, Pugs quickly became favored pets within the imperial courts.

Pugs are renowned for their friendly and sociable nature. Affectionately known as the "clowns of the dog world," these little companions are bursting with personality. They thrive on human interaction and are known for forming strong bonds with their families. Whether it's snuggling on the couch or joining in on playtime, the Pug's lively spirit is infectious.

Believe it or not, our senior pug, Buster (who is almost 15!) still swims regularly in the summer!  He loves it!

Additionally, their nails and teeth should be regularly checked to ensure overall well-being.
