The Q&A

What exactly do you do?
Little Landmines is a professional poop-scoop service that comes to your house to pick up dog waste in your yard, or cat litterbox cleanings. We handle pet waste removal for much less than you might think! We are licensed, insured and bonded.  We carry workmens' compensation insurance to protect you and our technicians.

How often can you service my property?
Although most people find that scheduling pet waste removal once a week is ideal, we'll work with you to arrange a schedule that best suits your needs. Our pooper scoopers can visit multiple times per week, once a week, bi-weekly, monthly, etc.

How does the service start? When will my first service be?
We operate on a prepaid subscription model. This ensures that we can schedule and allocate our resources efficiently with seamless monthly billing. After you sign up and initial that you've read our policies, we will send the first invoice, which will include your deep clean visit and the proration of visits for the remainder of the current month.


How will I be billed?
We keep client card payment information on file with Stripe card services. Stripe is a secure third party card processing server to keep your payments simple and easy! Little Landmines does not have direct access to your credit card information or full account number at any time. Payments are processed with the card on file prior to the 1st of the month that your services will occur. For instance, to receive services in July, your payment will be paid before July 1st. We bill our clients once per month for our pet waste removal services. Your monthly payment will be simple and predictable because we use monthly averaging, which allows us to charge you the same amount each month. (Some months have 4 weeks, some months have 5 weeks, so monthly averaging allows your monthly bill to be the same amount every month!)

Example: If you pay $20 per visit for weekly service, you will get 52 visits a year.
Equals: $20 x 52 = $1040 for the year.
Divide $1040 by 12 months, and your monthly bill will be $86.67, each and every month. This allows for predictable billing so you're always sure what your fee will be every single month!


Will you be at my property on the same day each week?
In most cases, yes. Situations like weather conditions, holidays, illness or unexpected life situations may cause us to deviate from our schedule on rare occasion! We do ask that you allow us the full day "sun up to sun down" to get to your property on your regularly scheduled day, plus 24 hours of a grace period, as our technicians schedule can vary and sometimes life happens and we have to shuffle a day!

Can I request a day for service?
While we do our best to accommodate preferred service days, we schedule routes based on efficiency grids that factor in ZIP codes, technician proximity, and overall logistics. This helps us keep services timely, affordable, and consistent for all our clients. We appreciate your flexibility as we work to serve your neighborhood as efficiently as possible!

Should I unlock my gate?
Your pooper scooper is instructed to never climb or jump over fences. Please have the gate unlocked on your scheduled service day. If you have a gate lock, you can also provide us with a key or code to enter if you'd like! If we attempt your regularly scheduled visit, and a gate is locked or yard is inaccessible, we will do our best to come back if your route overlaps with another one in the area, however we can not always do this due to time constraints.  
If we’re unable to access your yard due to a locked gate or missing access instructions, the visit still counts. We’ll take care of everything on your next scheduled service once access is available.

Can you work with my dog in the yard?
We love dogs and we love seeing all of their smiling faces in our travels! However, if your dog isn't happy with strangers, or it becomes apparent that your dog won't allow us to clean the yard, we'll ask that you temporarily bring your pet inside while we perform our pet waste disposal service. If no one is home or there is no answer, we'll contact you and try again on your next scheduled visit! As a rule of thumb, we don't offer refunds in these circumstances as we expect to pick up twice the amount of pet-waste on your following visit.


What do you do with the waste?
We collect the pet waste per EPA standards in double bagged, biodegradable trash bags, close them up tight and put it right in your outdoor trash can so you don't have to think about it!  If you don't have outdoor cans, or they are not accessible, we’ll leave the bag near the home. Some of our techs have the ability to do haul away, just ask and we'll let you know!

Do you have a weather policy?
We work during all seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall. In the case of weather conditions (snowing, raining, temperatures below 32 degrees, or above 90 degrees), we may need to skip a pooper-scooper service. We don't credit the first visit skipped due to extreme weather conditions, as we expect to pick up twice the amount of dog poop the following visit. Accumulated waste requires additional time on the next service, and technicians are paid for the increased labor and time.If multiple visits are skipped consecutively due to weather, credits will be applied to accounts. Please note that credits are processed manually and may take time, as we manage service for over 600 clients.

What if I go on vacation and need to put services on hold?
We understand that you may occasionally need to skip a scheduled service due to vacations or other reasons. If you need to skip a scheduled service, please notify us at least 48 hours in advance so we can let the technician know. We will provide a credit for the missed service towards your next billing cycle. Please note: Credits are only given if there are no dogs present at the 
property during the skipped service. If your dog(s) remain on the property, the service will proceed as scheduled OR we can skip the visit (ie you have a dogsitter, but aren't comfortable having us come that week), but there is no credit as we will expect to pick up twice the amount of waste the next visit.

​Do you have seasonal policies?
As you can imagine, winter brings special challenges for your dog and our pooper-scooper service. If there is only a dusting of snow, we can usually find what we're "looking" for. If it snows more than that, we may have to skip the week’s scooping. When we do get back into the yard there will be a much bigger job to do so we charge your usual amount. There may also be obstacles throughout the year preventing us from finding all of your dog’s poop other than snow. A good example is leaves or high grass. In the summer we kindly ask that you keep your grass below 5 inches. This is to ensure that we spot all of your pet waste, as well as keep our technicians safe from dangerous pests such as ticks, snakes, and the like! Any grass areas that are excessively high will be skipped to ensure the safety of our staff. We appreciate your consideration!

Are there any extra charges for the first outdoor yard service?
NO.  We do not charge any deep clean costs for first visits, which sets us apart from other industry standards.  We charge the same price for your first visit as your routine ones.  The first visit is priced at 30 minutes.  We can usually find all the landmines in that allotted period.  However, if we do need more time, we charge $10 for every 15 minutes over the allotted time to pay our technicians for the extra time and accumulation. Are there any contracts to sign?We can start and stop your pet waste removal service at any time with just a phone call or an e-mail. We don't require contracts, there's no minimum service period, and there's no advance notice required to cancel service! However, to ensure accurate and timely processing, all service cancellations must be submitted directly through the Little Landmines office using our official cancellation form.

Do you have a referral program?
Yes, we do! Tell your neighbors and friends about us! If they decide to sign up for recurring services, you'll receive a free visit! You can do this as many times as you wish as our thanks to you!

Do you guarantee your work?
You bet! We have a "Missed the Mark" guarantee. If our service doesn't meet your expectations or if we happen to overlook any waste, fret not! We promise to swing by within 24 hours to make it right, and as a gesture of our commitment, you'll also receive a full refund for that visit. If you have an issue with your service, please give us a chance to fix it by filling out our form so we know where we we can do better!

​Do you offer other pet services like dog walking, or pet-sitting?​
​We offer this service in a very limited area (MOT, Newark, Bear).  We also know some amazing companies who do so and are always happy to give a referral!​
