Dogs have been a beloved part of movies for decades. Whether they are playing the leading role or just providing a cute and cuddly sidekick, dogs have a way of capturing our hearts and making us fall in love with them. Here at Little Landmines Pet Waste Removal, we’re big fans of all dogs, and we’ve put together a list of our top 10 favorite dogs in movies.

  1. Beethoven - Beethoven (1992) Beethoven is a lovable St. Bernard who stole our hearts in the 1992 movie Beethoven. He is a gentle giant who gets into all kinds of trouble, but he always manages to come out on top. Whether he is rescuing his family from danger or just being his adorable self, Beethoven is a true hero.
  2. Toto - The Wizard of Oz (1939) Toto may be small, but he is mighty. This little Cairn Terrier stole the show in The Wizard of Oz and has been a beloved character ever since. He is brave, loyal, and always by Dorothy’s side, making him a true friend and companion.
  3. Marley - Marley & Me (2008) Marley is a Labrador Retriever who reminds us that dogs aren’t always perfect, but they are always worth it. This mischievous pup causes all kinds of chaos for his owners, but he also brings them endless joy and love. Marley & Me is a heartwarming movie that showcases the bond between a family and their beloved dog.
  4. Scooby-Doo - Scooby-Doo (2002) Scooby-Doo is a classic cartoon character who made the jump to the big screen in 2002. This Great Dane is not only hilarious, but he also has a heart of gold. Scooby-Doo and his gang solve mysteries and fight crime, but they also have a lot of fun along the way.
  5. Lassie - Lassie Come Home (1943) Lassie is perhaps one of the most iconic dogs in movie history. This Rough Collie first appeared on the big screen in 1943’s Lassie Come Home and has been stealing our hearts ever since. Lassie is intelligent, loyal, and always willing to go above and beyond for her human family.
  6. Benji - Benji (1974) Benji is a scruffy little mutt who captured our hearts in the 1974 movie of the same name. This lovable dog is a hero in his own right, as he saves two kidnapped children and brings them safely back to their parents. Benji is brave, clever, and utterly adorable.
  7. Air Bud - Air Bud (1997) Air Bud is not your average dog – he’s a basketball star! This Golden Retriever showed off his impressive skills on the court in the 1997 movie Air Bud. He may not Old Yeller - Old Yeller (1957) Old Yeller is a classic tale of a boy and his dog set in post-Civil War Texas. This yellow Labrador Retriever mix becomes a loyal and brave companion to young Travis. Together they face many challenges, including a wolf attack that leaves Old Yeller with a devastating injury. Old Yeller is a beloved movie that has been tugging at our heartstrings for over 60 years.
  8. Homeward Bound - Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993) Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey is a heartwarming story of three pets – a Golden Retriever named Shadow, a Himalayan cat named Sassy, and a Bulldog named Chance – who set out on an adventure to find their way back home. This movie shows the incredible bond that pets can have with their human families and the lengths they will go to be reunited with them.
  9. 101 Dalmatians - 101 Dalmatians (1961) 101 Dalmatians is a classic Disney movie about a family of Dalmatians who are kidnapped by the evil Cruella de Vil. The story follows the adventures of Pongo and Perdita, two Dalmatians who embark on a daring rescue mission to save their puppies. 101 Dalmatians has been a favorite of children and adults alike for over 60 years.
  10. Hooch - Turner & Hooch (1989) Hooch may not be the most well-behaved dog, but he is certainly one of the most memorable. This French Mastiff is paired with Tom Hanks in Turner & Hooch, and together they solve a crime while also forming an unlikely bond. Hooch may be slobbery and messy, but he is also lovable and fiercely protective.
